Microsoft Office is an all-in-one app which is available for iOS devices. The new development is coming after the Redmond company brought the Office app for android devices. The app provides access to Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Word. It comes with the integration of Microsoft lens technology. This technology helps in converting images into editable Word or Excel documents, capturing whiteboards, and scanning PDFs. The Microsoft Office is available in Apple App Store for download on iOS devices.
One of the great benefits of the Microsoft Office App is that excel, Word, and PowerPoint are available under one roof. The app has already been released for testing through public preview. Since the review, Microsoft has emphasized on making several updates on the Office App. These updates include the ability to support third-party storage such as Dropbox, Box, and iCloud. There are tempelates to create new documents, presentations, and spreadsheets as well as general improvements.
Bringing Word, PowerPoint, and Excel together helps cut down the storage requirements of the Office App. For instance, the Word App for iOS is available for download with a file size of 282.4MB, while the Microsoft Office App is 378.6MB.
There are several reasons why Microsoft wants to continue with the amalgamation of excel, Word, and PowerPoint. The reasons are;
- The unified Microsoft Office App is important for users who don't want all the three in their devices.
- The office App has limited support with a tablet, but the Microsoft team is working on optimizing the app for tablets.
Previously, Microsoft launched a new office for iOS beta unified with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Sticky notes in one app for a more exceptional experience. The new version also has mobile-first features. The app simplifies how you work on the phone with the three, so you can do several things in one app. The new features use the camera to create content. The app also includes a new action tab such that you can do common mobile tasks without switching between Apps.
The new Microsoft Office App includes sticky notes. The new action pane has changes that allow you to:
- Create PDFs from Office documents, using the camera and photos in the device.
- Sign a PDF using your finger.
- Open links and files by scanning QR codes.
- Instantly share files with nearby mobile devices.
- Efficiently transfer files between phone devices and computers.
The other features included are:
1. Word dictation
With this feature, your voice can be turned into a text. You can as well use simple toolbars and voice commands to apply the necessary punctuation and formatting.
2. Excel cards view
You can now view and edit data in an Excel table row. This happens in a simple and digestible card format such that you don't have to go across columns that extend off the screen.
3. Outline to PowerPoint
Outline your presentation content, and the PowerPoint designer will convert the outline into presentable slides. Proper style, formats, and icons will be used.
The download of the new Microsoft Office app comes with Office 365 subscriptions starting at $7 per month. The app is free to download and use. However, most premium features are under the Office 365 subscription. After the download, the app launches to a home screen. The home screen lists all the cloud documents opened recently with a bottom navigation panel. The panel can take you to other places such as add menu where you can create a note or document. The creation of the document can be from scratch or from a template and photos captured by your camera. The created documents can then be stored in Onedrive, iCloud, box, Google Drive, or Dropbox.
